PARIS, FRANCE--New Zealand Youth delegation calls on their government to ‘keep it (fossil fuels) in the ground’ in light of the expected Paris climate agreement. At the action this morning in front of the mock Eiffle Tower at COP21, speakers
Barry Coates, Kya Lal, Renee Rose Annan and Natalie Jones talked about the importance of committing to the 1.5 degree temperature limit. They are calling on their government for an "immediate ban on further exploration for oil, gas and coal reserves in New Zealand and a just, urgent transition out of the fossil fuel industry in New Zealand."
On December 11, 2015, the COP21 is at the end of it's second week of negotiations at the United Nations Climate Change conference. The COP21 is being held in Paris, France, at the Le Bourget conference center.
